In this seven module course, your child will discover Frida Kahlo's inspirational life & art. They will then enter their own creative journey using Frida Kahlo as an influence. Throughout the sessions your child will be encouraged to use Frida's inspiring art to enhance their creative confidence & creative freedom.

Your child will explore self-expression and portraiture techniques. They will produce many preliminary pieces of art throughout, gaining confidence and experience as they go; culminating in creating a series of self portraits & portraits influenced by Frida Kahlo.

This course has been created to appeal to children from age 5 - 16. Each age group will gain different levels from the course and it is designed so that your child can revisit it over the years and gain yet more, as their passion and ability grows.

Module One: Frida's Early Life & the event that changed her life for ever.

Module Two: Frida, Diego Rivera & Casa Azul. Discover Frida's inspirational home and art studio.

Module Three: Frida Kahlo, the artist. Discover the inspirational artist Frida Kahlo. Learn how Frida used symbolism in her paintings. What does the imagery mean? How did she express her emotions through her creativity?

Module Four: The Locked Bathroom. Discover Frida's personal possessions that were locked away for fifty years after her death.

Module Five: It's Your Turn! Painting to music - an exercise to develop creative confidence & freedom.

Module Six: It's Your Turn! Exploring self-expression. Collating lists, sketches & collage to express our emotions, our joys, our loves and our fears. Downloadable course workbook.

Julie Bevan is a passionate Arts Educator, Creative Mentor and the Founder & Creator of Dot Kids Ltd; Creative Arts & Well-Being For Children.

Julie focuses on encouraging children's creative confidence, freedom & experimentation through exposure to inspirational artists in a fun and engaging way.

Julie introduces the children to artists and art movements through her Discovery & Discussion sessions. She then guides the children to create art which is 'influenced' by the artist; the child's own creative exploration and not a copy.

She helps children develop their self-expression through their creativity and this has led on to the creation of Mindfulness & Mindset workshops & courses, exploring the proven link between creativity & well-being.
